Traffic Sources

  • PPC

The biggest and best source of traffic, the scope for PPC is huge. You can bid on all sorts of related keywords, brand names and product names (see the PPC lists below).

The best thing about PPC though, is that all the ads shown currently require the customer to sign up for a new mobile phone to get a free laptop, or a new broadband contract for a free iPhone. With our method, there are no contracts to sign - this is a HUGE selling point!

Don't just stick with Google - place ads on Yahoo and MSN too. Although Google has the biggest market share, there are still millions of people who use the other two which are worth targeting.

  • Articles

Articles can target brand names like some PPC engines can't (because of copyright restrictions). You can write keyword rich articles to show on very broad phrases (like "free iphone") or very targeted ones ("toshiba 17" widescreen laptop"). Both types of article are worth doing - the traffic you want isn't just people seeking free stuff, it's people looking to BUY as well, and then you can persuade them that they don't NEED to buy, because they can get it free!

  • Forums

Forums generally have large user bases who often don't like to spend money, in the case of various niches like "gamers", "men", "cars", "sports" etc. BUT, these niches ALL love gadgets, and are probably very willing to invest a tiny amount to get all their gadgets for free.

If you run a forum, try running a few banners across the top of the template for a few weeks and see what happens.

If you post on these types of forums, stick your affiliate link in your signature and watch the commissions roll in.

Remember, you're not just looking for free seekers, you're lookign for anyone that likes gadgets. And that market is HUGE!

  • Video

New gadgets are released often, and usually come with video previews. These previews get a lot of traffic because people are so excited about the release. If you can get your hands on some of this video, you can create a promotional ad for the product, then include your affiliate link at the end.

Millions of people will watch it because they want to know about the gadget (creating massive desire), and then you casually throw in the suggestion that they can get it free, and they'll probably jump at the opportunity!

Post your videos to YouTube, MetaCafe etc. Heyspread.com is a good service for mass video distribution.

  • Social

Social network sites like Facebook and MySpace are absolutely teeming with two things - our target demographic, and CHEAP clicks. Costs are so low because the clickthrough rate is low, and the quality of "buying traffic" is low. People on social networks generally aren't looking to spend any money.. BUT:

They do love gadgets. And they want FREE gadgets. This is exactly the sort of offer which could gain a lot of support on social networks because it gives people what they want at very little cost. One of the benefits of this type of offer is that you don't HAVE to catch people in a buying mode - any mode will do because the offer is THAT good!

  • Review sites

These sites could either be reviewing the product itself (to pick up on people searching for "Free Stuff Exposed"), or reviewing products which are available for free via the techniques in the book. For example, iPods, iPhones, particular laptop brands etc. There are already thousands of such review sites around, comparing various prices and options.

Your site would stand out, because instead of price comparison, you simply have "$0.00" next to ALL the options, and include your affliate link.

  • Offline

Don't forget offline traffic! Newspaper/magazine ads, distributing leaflets, community poster boards, radio ads, TV ads.. the possibilities are endless. There are millions of people which may never come across your website or affiliate links online, but if you can catch them offline, you're sitting on a goldmine.

Preselling

Presell, presell, PRESELL!

The biggest barrier to sales with this product is trust. People simply won't believe you when you tell them they can get free stuff.

They're going to think it's some sort of scam and while I've done my best on the sales page to convince them otherwise (with graphics and sales copy), they're still going to be skeptical.

This is where your presell comes in. If they've been recommended to the page by a neutral third party, or someone who's had success with the techniques already, it dramatically lowers the trust barrier.

So you SHOULD be preselling, not just direct linking (same goes for having a banner on your site - test linking it to a landing page presell first and see what happens to conversions). Of course test both ways as it depends on your traffic (they may already be presold or simply very open minded!).

Another thing: your landing page should NOT look like the FSE homepage. Why? Because otherwise people will think that's it ME who's doing the recommending, and that's just fishy. Your page should look totally different, so they KNOW it's a third party and so it feels like it's not associated/affiliated with the actual product. I have some examples below you can check out.

Now... how can you presell? 3 ways: reviews, recommendations, and personal success stories.

Below is an example of each. Feel free to use these and edit them however you wish.

Review (style: professional consumer feedback)

Recommendation (style: personal review with bias)

Personal Success (style: case study, go get it now!)

Please edit this one so that it is true for your situation and your experiences, or include a disclaimer somewhere on your page which states that the story is an example of possible success, not a factual account. Ethical marketing IS possible, we just have to be sure our disclaimers cover everything they should.

One thing to mention: presells are hugely helped out by pictures. There's a ton of graphics and pictures below, so help yourself to those. The photos are best - people want to see results, not product graphics or banners. For personal recommendations, I'd suggest getting a picture of yourself on the page too (if not you, a stock photo which COULD be you).

Lastly, you wouldn't believe the power of a case study when selling a product like this. As an example... I know a guy who did a weekly video diary of his results with a Forex bot, every week foro about 15 weeks. His results weren't huge by any means, and he had plenty of losing days and losing trades. But overall, he made a profit.

His profit from affiliate sales of that Forex bot however, far outweighed any money from his actual trades. He won a month long affiliate contest with around 300 sales, and collected a $10,000 prize (not to mention the commissions for 10 sales a day!). It all happened because of the raw effectiveness of case studies.

The power comes from creating a personal connection with the reader, who kept coming back again and again to see how he was getting on. After a few visits, they saw he was doing OK and purchased for themselves! Because they can SEE it's not a scam, it is a real product and produces real results for real people, it takes away all the fear and uncertainty about what will happen after they purchase.

The most powerful presell you could do would be exactly the same. Create a blog or diary of your progress using my techniques, and receiving your first freebie. If you can, do 2 or 3. I guarantee your sales will go through the roof if you can do this.

NOTE: be *very* careful not to reveal the actual method of getting free stuff in your reviews. If you do, the curiosity factor of the product is almost completely destroyed, and you'll have a hard time getting the sale.

Landing Pages

Below are a few examples of presell and landing pages, which you can use for articles, SEO or PPC traffic. Please use them as they are or edit them however you like. I've tried to give a range of examples of the different styles of landing page. Importantly, none of them look like they belong to FSE.

You can further enhance these pages with your own images, graphics from this resources page, and photos of yourself (or stock photos which could be you). Personality goes a long way in preselling.

Please do edit these pages before you use them. Change the text around a little bit, add in more META headers, boost keyword distribution and do whatever else you want. If you already have a website with a particular style and brand, edit the page so it looks like it's part of your website - which means that the review/recommendation is coming from YOU, not some random banner advert.

Review

A straight up review of the book, from an almost impartial, independant point of view. Very plain style to avoid distracting the visitor from the text, which should naturally lead them to at least check out the website for FSE.

Recommendation

Similar to the above, but with more of a direct recommendation twist. It's a kind of review, but with the slant that you SHOULD be getting the book because it's so good.

Download

Case Study

One of the most powerful types of presell, this is a "my results" lander which demonstrates to the prospect that the techniques work and the book is real.

Download

PPC Lander

Simple landing page targeted loosely towards "free iphone" style keywords. By using targeted landers like this, you should be able to lower your PPC costs and get more highly qualified traffic through to the offer. You can create variations of this page by swapping a few keywords around.

Banners

Graphics

PPC Keywords

PPC should be done with large lists of a combinations of a few basic terms: "free", "cheap" and "buy". You can combine these terms with the type of gadget you're aiming at: "phone", "cell phone", "laptop", "tv", "widescreen tv", "iPhone" etc, etc.

There's an absolutely HUGE market for PPC, and a HUGE range of ways to group and target your campaigns. Here's a few lists to give you some ideas. Please do take these and adjust them for your own campaigns.

"free"/"cheap" keywords. Target these to phones, TVs, games consoles etc.

Laptop manufacturers - people search for these before buying them. Also works with TV makers and phone makers.

Games console brand names - also applies to general gadget brand names (iPhone, iPod etc).
